If you’re something of a whiskey connoisseur, the Whiskey Club is going to be right up your alley. Set up by a team who are pros when it comes to the gold stuff, you can rest assured you’ll be getting the best of the best when you step foot in this cosy spot on Branston Street. While you don’t have to be a member to enjoy the fruits of their labour, their memberships are perfect for any JQ based whiskey lover.
Plus, as an added bonus they are directly across the street from our Branston Court offices. Perfect for any whiskey loving clients you might be looking to wow.
3. 40 St Paul’s
This swanky bar won the most prestigious award of UK Bar of the Year at the 2018 Gin Awards, no easy feat considering the fierce competition! 40 St Paul’s has forged a reputation for itself as a must visit spot for any gin lover with its impressive range of cocktails and delectable bar snacks. Set in the picturesque St Paul’s Square overlooking the cathedral, this place is the ideal spot to bring those clients you’re looking to impress.
With a whopping 140 types of gin in their arsenal, you’re certainly not going to be able to sample everything on the menu in one go. All the more reason to make your gin-based outings with colleagues a regular thing!
Is there anything better than a beer garden in the sunshine? The multiple award winning Lord Clifden is not only known for its deceptively ample quirky outdoor area, but also its famous rustic charm. This JQ staple is a regular spot for music nights and sports events. There’s something about The Lord Clifden that makes you feel like you’ve been going there for years. So if you’re looking for an after work local – you may have just found it.
Serving up all the usual suspects from the bar, the area where this pub really stands out is in its wine list. If you fancy yourself a bit of a wine expert, The Lord Clifden won’t disappoint!
5. The Wolf
If ale is your thing, the short walk down to The Wolf is well worth it. Based near Snow Hill Station, this bar just about makes it into our Jewellery Quarter catchment area – but we’re overjoyed that it does. This independent family run bar opened its doors in early 2017 and has gained quite the reputation since.
Worked up an appetite sampling their broad choice of craft beers and ales? The Wolf also offers an ample selection of pies, meats and cheeses for snacking on in between pints. We can’t think of a better spot to discuss the day’s events with your colleagues before getting on with your commute from Snow Hill.
6. The Church
Another JQ haunt that is absolutely booming in the sunshine is The Church on Hockley Road. Their secret rooftop terrace has made The Church a favourite watering hole for businesses around the Jewellery Quarter. There’s a clear deep south theme that runs through the place, from their soul food menu all the way down to their cocktails.
Another big draw to this place is the fact that Birmingham bread aficionados Peel & Stone take up residence here with their sourdough pizzeria. Great food? Check. Zingy cocktails? Check. Live music? Check. It’s a no brainer guys.
Feel like your favourite Jewellery Quarter watering hole should have made it onto this list? Let us know and we’ll be sure to include it in our next roundup.
